Photography Class

So right now I'm taking one photography class at WSP in Bethesda, near DC. Its a year long school, with many different courses through out the year. My class right now is just Basic Composition. But I want to share with you my assignments week to week. So Ive decided to post all... well most of my images every Tuesday. I would like any ones feedback, good and bad. I know that you can't comment unless you have a blog site profile for yourself. But maybe that will get you going, its really easy and I would love to hear from more people. But there's always email if you feel like dropping me a line.

My first assignment was using four different rules of Composition....
RULE OF THIRDS.....
REPETITION OF SHAPES....
my favorite one... I know its just the sidewalk but I really appeals to me with the contrast and texture.

CHANGING YOUR PERSPECTIVE....

FILLING THE FRAME.... Had a little trouble with this one. I automatically do this already compared to a new photography student. So I don't think about it when I shoot, so picking images was hard since most fell into this category. I pulled a few from Caitys wedding that I already posted.

Frederick

Here is some more pictures from downtown Frederick, I choose my favorite buildings and took some of the row houses to give you an idea of what things look like out here.

City Hall....
Look at the sign in the upper left corner. Its a historical marker that states.... carriage house and slave quarters.... yup. Its one of my favorite building to drive by, I think its the color and large doors.... but didn't realize what it was till I saw the sign. Interesting. Don't see a lot of that back in WA!

Sarah and I went west to Shepardstown, WV. This first church was in downtown. Fun cute town. Its a college town with cute shops but still WV. No matter what there is just a whole different vibe when u cross that river ;) The second church was along a back highway near Frederick.

We also stopped at the Antietam Bridge, Sarah hadn't seen it and everything is different in the winter so I snapped a few also.... its a beautiful bridge.

Around Town

So the weather cleared up yesterday. Beautiful skies but still chilly. I had some homework to do so I adventured out to downtown to see what I could find. I ended up shooting more for this blog then for homework... oh well. But I seemed to be caught up with the steeples and the bright blue of the sky. As mentioned before Frederick has many churches downtown all so different but all very pretty. Last month I went on the candlelight tour with Sarah next door. We were able to go into all of them to see what they looked like on the inside. It was fun for a bitter December night. My favorite was actually the one I go to when I feel like getting out of bed on Sunday. Its the brick one with the red door. Maybe someday I will be able to photograph the inside. Lots of old beams and benches. So I will probably be posting more of Frederick soon.

Just a cemetary in downtown. All locked up. But it looks like some old headstones in there, would be fun to explore later.

First Snow

It was our first real snow this year. It only snowed one inch enough to cover the ground and let the puppies play. It took me forever to get a picture of Maya, it was the first time she experienced snow and LOVED! it. She would run and scoop up the snow in her mouth. Moose was enjoying his self also, rolling around in it. Last week the tempeture got down to negative 5 degrees. Oh boy, have I been a hermit. But the snow was a nice change. I also started photography school last week and I have a assignment due next week and its been too cold to get and shoot. I might go back with 10 images all of my babies. So orginal.

Caity & Jeremy

I had the privileged to shoot my cousin Caity's wedding last weekend. It was nice to meet her new husband Jeremy and see first hand the love between them. They diffidently couldn't keep their hands off each other. It was a little stressful a few days before, but the rain clouds split and the flooding ceased and everyone was able to be part of this perfect day. I wish them all the best in Florida.

For Kristy

I havent seen my friend Kristy in a few years, she has always been a huge cheerleader for my photography. And now she is getting into it herself, and I am so excited and proud of what she has been able to do in such a short time. She has a natural eye that Im very jealous of. But since I havent seen her in so long I am going to post some old images to show her. So have fun scrolling through if you like, but Kristy these are for you. Let me know what you think.
